点评:We reserved a spot to hike the canyon a couple of months in advance. To get there, you take a gravel road about 3 miles to the guard shack where they verify your reservation by last name and either collect a fee or take your national parks pass if you have one. Then it is another 4 mile drive on a rough gravel road to the canyon. You go through a couple of stream crossings, so I would not recommend a low clearance car. We had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it did just fine. Once you get to the parking lot, there's a short walk to the trail head. Make sure you have shoes that can get wet. The trail is not clearly marked and there were a few times I wasn't sure whether we were on the right path. There was some climbing over limbs and a bunch of stairs. Most, but not all, of the stream crossings have boards down to make the hike easier. The canyon was beautiful and we really enjoyed our visit. We are all in good shape and/or are hikers so we had no problem at all. My teen kids did the hike barefoot, which looked kind of painful to me but they said it felt good. They were the only ones doing that though and I would not recommend going without the right footwear.
