点评:There are beautiful views over the area. It's not just the view over the city itself that is nice, but also the view over the many small islands in the ocean surrounding Nagasaki.
Tourist information in the train station gave clear instructions on how to take the bus to get to the Ropeway (numbers 10, 17, and 20, Ropeway stop), and that worked well. It was about a 200 m walk to the actual ropeway entrance. There are signs, although you have to be looking for them or you may miss them. You can walk up the road to get to the parking lot for the ropeway, or go up the stairs through the small shrine, which will also take you to the entrance to the ropeway.
The views are most beautiful at sunset/nightview, but that is also the time that it is by far the most crowded. If you want it almost to yourself, come during the daytime. I arrived around 4:30 PM, with only two other people on the gondola. At the observatory there were only a few people. It was a great place to have a picnic supper while looking at the views. Later on, toward sunset, it rapidly got much more crowded. When I went down the gondola, just after the sun had set, every gondola car going up was packed and there were lineups at the bottom. Going down, on the other hand, was almost empty.
Taking bus 20 back to the train station was also easy. Overall a great experience.
