The River and the Desert
沙坡头旅游区的点评
点评：The area is separated into two - a desert zone and a river zone. There is an entrance ticket to access the zones, but each activity within the zones cost additional money. There is an all inclusive package that allows you to access everything, but it is very expensive.
We only went to the river zone, which is the area with the sand slide, zip line, a viewing platform, glass bridge, and sheepskin raft. Note that all these activities cost extra money on top of the entrance ticket. We only paid for the sheepskin raft as we already experienced the other activities elsewhere before.
The sheepskin raft was a pretty cool experience and would recommend for all first timers to try it out. It's the traditional mode of transportation on the Yellow River since the ancient days. Our guide was amazing, answered all of our questions and even sang for us as we floated down the river. It was like experiencing a moment in time before our modern day transportation was invented.
If you don't want to pay for the cable car up the slope, there is a free escalator at the very end of the area that can take you up the sand dune for a better view of the Yellow River. The viewing platform on top gives a pretty good view of the entire area, although it can be crowded if you run into those big tour groups.
The only way to access the desert zone is to pay for the package, which we didn't do. We already did most of the desert activities in Tenggeli so we didn't think it was necessary to do them here again.
We spent 2-3 hours here doing the sheepskin raft and just enjoying the views, but you can easily spend a full day here if you plan on doing all the activities they have available.
