点评:We were in Mongolia on June 18–28, 2024, and we had drivers and tour guides who were pleasant, skilled, compassionate, and amazing. While some of the drivers, such as Boba, are unable to communicate in English, they are highly attentive to our needs and observant of our body language.
Mr. Amanbyek Yerbolat: He is exceptional at being attentive and compassionate, even in the face of last-minute requests. For example, after climbing Malchin Peak, my footwear sustained damage. Given that it is the sole pair of shoes I brought with me on this trip, I inquired as to whether it is possible to repair it in order to wear it for the remainder of the journey. He ensured that we visited a convenience store in close proximity to our campsite, assisted me in purchasing the adhesive, and affixed my shoes. He has made me extremely pleased with his gesture.
Mr. Nurtu Kadirbek: Despite his youth of sixteen years, he possesses a positive and robust entrepreneurial spirit. Our needs are of paramount importance to him. The manner in which he served our group is similar to how he manages and oversees his own business, if he had one. He is consistently attentive to others' needs and takes the initiative to assist them with translations.
Mr. Jenisbek was our chef, and he made delectable dishes. He is incredibly charming, amiable, and compassionate. He is the chief chef at a local kindergarten, where he works full-time. The manner in which he addresses us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is quite endearing. We greatly missed his cuisine after our trip.
The remaining drivers and tour guides provided excellent service, for which we are grateful.
Additional feedback to Altai-Nomads Travel:
1. Mongolia experiences exceptionally frigid temperatures at night, even during the summer. The majority of visitors from Asia are not accustomed to the cold weather. The check-in luggage limit of the local airline is 15 kg, which means that we are unable to bring along a substantial amount of warm clothing and our own sleeping bag. It is imperative to furnish your visitors with the appropriate sleeping bag that is configured to provide warmth. The cold weather caused the majority of us to experience poor sleep, with an average of only two hours of sleep per night. During the final days of our journey, we contracted the illness and cough as a result of inadequate sleep, which weakened our immune system.
2. It is necessary to assemble and disassemble the tent daily. Some of the tents and sleeping bags are unclean and emit a mouldy smell, and none of them are labelled. On a daily basis, we were required to blindly select our sleeping bag and tent. Each guest should be designated a tent and sleeping bag that are appropriately labelled. For instance, the travel agency could have designated tent 1 and sleeping bag 1 for traveler 1 from the first day of the trip until the final day. Personal hygiene is a concern, and we recommend that the travel agency prioritise this issue and enhance the camping equipment.
3. As an experienced hiker, I must acknowledge that Malchin Peak is not suitable for beginners; however, the itinerary has designated it as a simple trek. Out of the 15 members of our group, only two were able to reach the summit. Our group leader, Mr. Lim, was unaware of the mountain and opted to rely on the itinerary. He informed all members prior to the excursion that it was a straightforward trek. At an elevation of over 2000 metres, thirteen members expressed their desire to quit. However, I was able to motivate them to ascend to 3600 metres before they ultimately surrendered on the summit. Although two members were able to reach the summit with the assistance of a knowledgeable guide from the travel agency, it is too potentially dangerous to entrust guides who have no experience with Malchin Peak to lead the group.
3. On June 24, we neglected to visit the Kazakh nomadic families, and our guides were unaware of the situation until one of our members notified Mr. Lim. By that time, we were unable to attend the visit due to a lack of available time.
4. Our group leader from Singapore, Mr. Lim, did not provide us with a daily itinerary briefing and update. The majority of the time, we were required to make assumptions regarding the next steps and actions. It is possible that the local guides could take the initiative to conduct the daily briefing at the beginning of each day in order to manage the guests' expectations regarding the day's activities.
In conclusion, Altai-Nomads Travel continues to provide an exceptional experience, despite the fact that there is always room for improvement.
Amanbyek Yerbolat
Nurtu Kadirbek
