点评:We visited the castle on the first day we reached. It is about 20+ mins walk from our Hotel at Hamamatsu centre and quite easy to spot.
Situated at quire a high ground and we walked slopes to reach. Today, the castle grounds consist of a reconstructed castle tower atop a hill surrounded by past historical ruins and spacious Parkland. It is late-March and some early cherry blossoms while the majority are still budding..
We paid fee to scale ourselves up the narrow stairs.. inside the castle tower is a museum laying out Hamamatsu’s history through various exhibitions. There is well laid out clear descriptions in Japanese and English and good displays of samurai wears too. Quite common for most other castle setup.
Finally reaching the observation deck on 3 floors, presenting to us were panoramic views of the cityscape around
Quite a small castle and the visit can be completed within an hour. There are fine views over the city from the castle itself and the terrace. Nearby there are some cultural facilities like the Hamamatsu Municipal Museum of Art which we also visited (see other TA article).
This will be Nihon castle #17 for us over the past 10+ years.
