点评：Beautiful beaches and friendly locals, but serious Route 27 traffic even off-season severely impacts the experience.
The beaches (especially Ditch Plains) were peaceful, clean, and perfect for relaxing.
Hither Hills campground was nearly empty, with clean bathrooms and direct beach access — a real plus for campers.
However, many restaurants were closed, and those open had no fresh seafood during the week.
The lighthouse now charges $15 just to walk up the hill, which felt overpriced given the limited services.
Gurney’s was also remodeling, making dining options even fewer.
The biggest issue was the traffic: Route 27 westbound around 5 PM turned what should have been a 2.5-hour drive home into nearly 3.5 hours.
The full hour of delay appeared to be entirely due to congestion on Route 27 and local driving behavior, not accidents or construction.
If that's typical even off-season, it’s a serious drawback.
Overall: 3.5 to 4 stars for the peaceful beaches and friendly atmosphere —
but Route 27 issues drop it closer to 2.5 stars for overall experience.
