点评:My partner and I visited the museum as well as visiting Jonkerbos War Cemetery where my partner’s Uncle, Kenneth Roberts is buried. Kenneth was a member of the British 21st Independent Parachute Regiment. He and his regiment were tasked with defending Oosterbeek from German attacks. The British and Polish Parachute Regiments were surrounded by the German Army and experienced furious and sustained warfare. Kenneth Roberts lost his life after being fatally injured whilst attempting to save his fellow soldier’s life.
We visited the museum to see if we could find out more details of Kenneth’s role in the battle of Arnhem.
The two staff members in the museum went out of their way to help us piece together further information about Kenneth and his regiment’s activities in Oosterbeek. They helped us to find previously unknown details that we could not have found without their help. Their commitment and interest in this period of history was incredible. We cannot thank them enough. We would highly recommend a visit to this museum and hope that you will be as impressed by the staff’s knowledge and enthusiasm as we were.
