Kansas State Fair的点评
点评：We’ve been going to the Kansas State Fair for over 40 years- but this year we were highly disappointed. There were no animals in the beef barns, the sheep barns, the horse barns , or the swine barns. Families bring their children to experience agriculture and meat products grown and raised in Kansas- but kids can’t appreciate these things when there is nothing to see! There were rabbits and fowl- and the birthing center had some baby calves and piglets. No cows to milk in the milking demonstration. The butter sculpture was done by somebody not from Kansa - isn’t the focus supposed to be on Kansas? The Domestic Arts building usually has wonderful display cases filled with baked goods that were submitted for judging. But all they had on display were the ribbons! There were a few small tables with winning entries in cookies and breads- not covered- just sitting out exposed to everyone walking by. What if some kid with a peanut allergy grabbed the peanut butter cookie? No cakes- no pies- and very few canned items. Just ribbons.
There were no sheds , buildings, or outdoor furniture for observation- no patio furniture or barbecue grills. .No cars, very limited numbers of farm implements - not one combine..No travel trailers.
The vendors in the buildings were far fewer - and we saw no products being demonstrated. The rent for booth space must have gone up because some buildings had vast empty spaces. The robot that has walked around delighting children was nowhere in sight. Dillons had a refrigerated truck for sample ice cream- but they had none available that day.
One of the grandstand shows was changed at the last minute so people who bought tickets for that group should be upset.
As veteran fair goers- this year’s fair didn’t have what we’ve come to expect- and sadly it may be the last one we attend.
