Every bit of farm equipment from past to present on display--plus the Hornaday Bison
Museum of the Northern Great Plains的点评
点评:This place is deceptivly large, so plan a couple of hours for a full visit. For all the exhibits under roof, the square footage is vast. They don’t miss much, telling the story of agriculture from ox and plows to the satellite-guided machines today. And they covered the process from seeding to harvest to sale. They had single-seeders, multi-seeders, harvesters, threshers, bailers, and combines. When one’s finished logging a few thousand steps around all these machines, it’s outside to another area with a recreation of an 1800s town.
But for the naturalist, there was a separate gallery on the American bison. It comprised one circular room with a discussion of the importance of buffalo to Natives and the decimation of them by settlers. It doesn’t fit per se with the vibe of the rest of the museum, but was built for the Hornaday Bison. One was made famous on the buffalo nickel. They are pretty much the most famous things in Fort Benton today. Overall it’s definitely a must-visit if one gets to central Montana.
