Ruthven Barracks的点评
点评：I’ve seen this old barracks / castle a few times as I’ve driven past on the A9 and after googling it and finding out the history I decided to check it out.
To access it you need to leave the A9 and drive through the quaint little village of Kingussie…. approximately a ten minute journey from the A9 to the structure itself.
Entry and parking is free at Ruthven Barracks and you can wander the old buildings yourself at your leisure.
The car park is relatively small but could accommodate around 10 cars at a squeeze.
It was a cold windy day and I was the only person there.
There are various information boards dotted around both inside and outside which explain everything you need to know about the different parts.
Well worth a visit if you’re interested in history and particularly the conflict between the Jacobites and Government forces in the 1700’s.
I loved it although you’d struggle to access the building if you have mobility issues.
