点评:Palazzo Comunale is only a minor sight but it’s a good starting point for exploring the historic centre of Tolentino. It’s one of several historic buildings at Piazza della Libertà, Tolentino’s main square.
Built in 1860, it was badly damaged by the 2016 earthquakes and there has been very little change since we saw it last year.
We spotted an interesting plaque on the facade which I hadn’t noticed before. It commemorates Giordano Bruno, the 16th century the Dominican Friar, mathematician, philosopher, and cosmologist who was burnt at the stake in 1600 for his heretical ideas. I’m not sure what the link with Tolentino and the plaque was tricky to translate. Very roughly translated, it celebrates Giordano Bruno for his ‘freedom of thought, life and defence of modern civilization and national law’
