Different - Not as Incredible as Before

点评：About 15 years ago when I started chronicling our vacations on TripAdvisor, we visited Lincoln Road for an amazing experience one evening, and it is recorded in one of these 17,000 reviews. Based on that experience, I planned for this trip with 5 couples to have another incredible afternoon/evening shopping, dining, and enjoying the open-air ambiance of Miami Beach. However, when we pulled in at 5:00 on a Sunday night, the experience was simply different.
It started with the fact that all of the garages were closed despite being nearly empty. They were actively keeping people from entering, so we had to park at the Convention Center. When we did make it to Lincoln Road, there was no energy like before. There were people and the shops and restaurants were there, but there was no magic like before. Additionally, everything seemed fresh and sharp 15 years ago, but this time it was faded and tired. Don't get me wrong the setting is still incredible with beautiful buildings and the road turned into lush gardens, fountains and public spaces.
The girls shopped some, we ate at Ole Ole, and we got gelato at Mammamia. However, it was not the night or the experience I hoped my friends would have. The pedestrian mall has all the same ingredients it did 15 years ago, but it simply does not have the same magic. If I had known, I might have scheduled something different.
