Ecuador: A Journey Beyond Expectations

点评：At the beginning of our trip, we were concerned about safety and comfort while traveling through Ecuador. But wow—were we wrong.
From the moment we arrived, Jorge Castillo, our guide for the next two weeks, warmly welcomed us. During that time, we explored the rainforest, traveled through the highlands from Cotopaxi to Cuenca, and continued to discover more of this incredible country. Jorge was among the most knowledgeable and friendly guides we’ve ever met.
He shared insights into Ecuador’s rich history, and when it came to wildlife and plant life, he really knew his stuff. Our political and economic conversations were informative, respectful, and fact-based—never dull.
The places we stayed at were also a highlight. Most of the hotels and haciendas were outstanding in terms of service, cleanliness, and hospitality. One exception was Hotel Hacienda Abraspungo in Riobamba, which unfortunately didn’t meet the same service and overall quality standards.
That said, we also stayed in some truly stunning places. The absolute standouts were Mashpi Lodge in the rainforest, Hacienda Zuleta near Angochagua, and Casa Gangotena in Quito—to name a few.
The nature hikes, the volcanoes, and the changing landscapes made for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We’re delighted we took this tour and would recommend it to anyone who loves a mix of culture, cities, and nature. It’s an unforgettable journey.
