Historic 16th Century Castle + a Wine-Tasting

点评：The Chateau de Monbazillac offered both a visit to an historic 16th century castle and a wine-tasting - two for the price of one.
The fairy-tale like chateau is set in the rolling vineyards of the Bergerac region. With its turrets, moat and drawbridge, it is a classic French chateau. From the elevated position out the back, we could also look out over the very scenic surrounds. It really is a lovely spot.
Visiting the castle was interesting enough but it doesn’t take very long. The rooms are either unfurnished or lightly furnished with enough to give you a general impression of how they might have been used. There is some historical information throughout and some simple interactive displays.
After exploring the chateau, we went over to the modern wine tasting rooms. Our entry ticket allowed for a tasting of three wines, although they did not hold us to that. It wasn’t busy and as we were interested in particular wines, they generously offered some extra tastings and spent some time with us, explaining the different wines.
