Beautiful natural spectacle, unfortunately since a few months not very visible for safety reasons.
Cascata Urlante a Premilcuore的点评
点评:In the valley of the Rabbi river, the riverbed shows in some places a clear outcrop of rather compact rocks, engraved by the erosion of the water in a characteristic shape.
These compact rocks are sandstones, belonging to the so-called “marly-arenaceous” formation, thick and extensive in the Romagna region, dated from 15 to 8 million years BP.
One of the most typical spots where this erosion is evident, is the so-called “Cascata di Ponte nuovo” (New Bridge Waterfall), also called “Grotta urlante” (Screaming Cave). The two names evoke two different features of the site: the presence - right in correspondence with the waterfall - of a bold and elegant hump-backed bridge (dating back to around the year 1600); and the loud noise that the water of the stream produces, first encasing itself in a narrow groove between the sandstones, then falling for a few meters into a basin below, deep because it was dug by the force of the water.
Unfortunately, following a fatal accident in June 2024, access to the area closest to the gorge and waterfall has been blocked, making the waterfall very difficult to view. The relatively best view (but still limited) can be enjoyed from the top of the bridge.
