点评:I am local with a 4WD, so the road quality doesn't phase me. having said that, there has been significant improvements done on the 5km of dirt road to the car park for Anvil Rock, to the extent that any 2WD vehicle can easily handle it. No potholes or ruts (as of early January 2024). But another closure for more roadworks is planned for March so check ahead.
The view from Anvil Rock, and indeed from the short walk between the car park and the lookout, is awesome - almost the entire length of the Grose Valley is in view. Once at the lookout itself, which is entirely fenced for safety, you look directly across to the cliff face of Mt Banks, and Mt Hay off to your right (east).
There is an actual anvil on top of the lookout. The original anvil was tossed by brainless hoods into the valley. Good luck in getting its replacement off the ground.
if you make the effort to go, make sure you allow time for the short walk to the Wind-Eroded caves to the west, from the car park. The track has been upgraded. It's only 50 metres.
