点评:I have visited this beautiful hidden gem many times, with my most recent visit on 10th October. The walk to the waterfalls is stunning, and every time I’ve visited, it has felt different. It’s about a 1 to 1.5-hour trek, depending on your fitness level, though older visitors should be cautious as some parts of the path are quite narrow and may require support from a guide. The falls are dramatic, and taking a dip in some of the quieter pools at the base is highly recommended (though the rocks can be very slippery).
You can also see another beautiful waterfall, Kaluwa Wetuna Ella, about 300 metres before Rathna Ella, which is truly impressive. This time, my trip was organised by the team at Kevan’s Casa Mahiyangana, who offer a wide range of unique activities. Last year, my visit was arranged by the team at Mapakada Village, who also have great expertise.
One advantage of going with them is that they provide snacks, plenty of mineral water, first aid, and much more. Don’t forget to try the authentic rice and curry at Lunu Misira, a local restaurant next to the car park at the end of the trek.
