Scenic Hike – Mostly Easy, Some Challenging
纽波特悬崖步道的点评
点评：When our cruise ship docked in Newport, RI, my husband and I did the scenic Cliff Walk on our own. It took about 30 minutes to walk from the port to the beginning of the trail. Along the way, we passed St. Mary’s Parish, where John and Jacqueline Kennedy got married in 1953.
The Cliff Walk is about 3.5 miles – most of the path was easy, but there were some parts that were challenging. It requires walking over large boulders and loose rocks. I had to put away my camera because I need both hands to navigate.
We saw many beautiful mansions along the shore. The only one we recognized was The Breakers, the 70-room summer residence of Cornelius Vanderbilt, but all were just as impressive. The Cliff Walk ended at the Bellevue Avenue where we then headed back towards the pier.
If you like to hike, then Cliff Walk is for you. It’s free and there’s public bathroom near the Forty Steps stone stairs. We walked close to 27,000 steps that day :D
