点评：While in Death Valley my family and I drove the twenty-nine miles out to the racetrack to see the famous moving rocks. Before you go please read these tips.
1. Make sure you are driving an appropriate car for terrain. I would recommend a high clearance 4x4.
2. I would suggest renting a jeep from Farabee’s in Furnace Creek. The owner is helpful and goes out of his way to make your trip so much safer. He provides you with an SOS device in case of emergency and is able to track your location. If something were to happen, he will come out to help. In addition, you are provided a cooler with ice and water. He also throws in toilet paper and hand wipes.
3. The road was grated when we went out at the beginning of Natch 2025. It only took us an hour-and-a-half to get to the Grandstand (the first wooden fence), which is the first stop at the playa. THIS IS NOT WHERE THE ROCKS ARE LOCATED.
4. Most people stop at the Grandstand, go out onto the playa, and find one or two rocks. They then leave thinking their trip was a disappointment. That’s because most of the rocks are further south.
5. From the Grandstand drive two more miles down the gravel road, until you come to the second wooden fence. Walk out onto the playa for about a 1/2mile where you will find a plethora of moving rocks.
6. Spend a couple hours enjoying the playa, the view, and the drive back. This is an all day activity. Take your time and enjoy yourself.
