Pebbled beach in picturesque setting along the Jurassic Coast
Beer Beach的点评
点评：Friday morning 28th March we visited this beach along the stunning Jurassic Coast.
Initially we viewed the Beach, from above, as we walked along part of the South West Coastal Path.
Later on we walked down the steep Sea Hill on to the beach, on the way down we walked by the Beer Fisheries Shop and the Heritage Centre.
The pebbled and shingle beach is enclosed in a crescent shaped cove that is flanked at both ends of the beach by white limestone cliffs, which also are along the back of the beach. Such a picturesque setting within Lyme Bay.
As well as being a tourist attraction it is also a working beach. The fishing and tourism industries operate side by side along the beach.
A number of colourful fishing boats, of various sizes, rested up on the pebbles. While crab pots, nets and other angling equipment was piled up along the beach. There are a number of working winches to move boats along the beach.
Along the beach there were numerous beach huts and a number of cafes, which rented out the huts and deckchairs on a daily and weekly basis.
Walking along the beach was made a lot easier and accessible by the linked rubber pathways that are laid on the pebbles.
We did notice some water sports that were available including canoeing and kayaking.
At the time of our visit we could see that the cafes and huts were being made ready for the start of the holiday season. Luckily it was almost deserted when we were here, which meant we could see the Beach at it's best and enjoy the scenery and tranquility.
Looking back down the coast towards Seaton, there was a stark contrast in the landscape between the limestone cliffs at Beer and the red sandstone cliffs at Seaton.
From the beach there are organised fishing tours and motor launch hire.
