点评：As part of my MA studies in Sustainable Textiles, I am researching the current status and perception of Irish wool, including its cultural significance. A few weeks ago, I reached out to Arthur Cottage because I missed a spinning event that I would have liked to attend. I wanted to inquire about any upcoming events and whether I could be put in touch with the facilitator, Mary.
Mary kindly replied promptly, inviting me to visit the cottage for a hands-on experience. I visited earlier this week and spent a wonderful afternoon with Mary and Rhiannon, learning how to spin wool using both a drop spindle and a spinning wheel. Mary shared her extensive knowledge of historical textiles, and we engaged in deep conversations for several hours.
I greatly appreciated her insights, which will undoubtedly contribute significantly to my research. Her passion for preserving traditional Irish crafts truly shone through. I can’t thank her enough for the time she dedicated to me. Thank you!
