Very Small, but Very Helpful Staff
National Park of American Samoa Visitor Center的点评
点评：• Easy to find though it is not a standalone building like most NPS visitor centers (there is a non-park store located next door. Parking is up a kind of steep short driveway.
• This visitor center is small, but there is a lot of information and nice displays. There is also information about the recent tsunami downstairs that is interesting.
• No current park film due to DEI compliance. This was disappointing, but not their fault.
• Very small “gift shop” or we’ll call it “gift shop shelf” but it was more than enough for what I wanted. Had shirts, hats, bottles, a book, magnets, pins, NP sticker, NP passport book. On the plus side, it did not draw my son’s attention and we weren’t stuck in the gift shop.
• What points this small visitor center at a “5” is the service we got. The 2 ladies at the desk (I don’t think they were rangers) were EXCELLENT. They gave us great, helpful advise that really did help plan our 4 day stay in American Samoa. I’ve been to 31 National Parks and alway visit the visitor center, but these 2 ladies were among the most helpful staff I’ve ever had at one. Our group had 4 young kids there and they were a little wild, but the ladies were SO gracious and even printed certificates for the kids after they did some Jr Ranger activities. They were awesome.
