点评：Named after the owners' granddaughter, Lily's is all about giving a friendly welcome and making sure their customers leave more than satisfied. If there was a better cafe in the area we'd have found it by now but for us there simply isn't, so this has become not just our regular brunch stop but also a favourite place for stocking up on (baked in-store) cake and ginger flapjack (half a dozen other varieties of flapjack are always available), as well as meat or fish pies, also freshly made in-store, on a Wednesday. In colder months, freshly made soup and a cheese scone are a favourite lunch.
All of Lily's is bijou...in the best possible way. The simple but cosy cafe seats 10 max indoors and another 8 or so outdoors (weather permitting) and owner/chef Julie and her team perform minor miracles in a very compact kitchen. Likewise, what husband Alan achieves in the rest of the establishment is equally impressive, keeping the various counters and shelves stocked with fruit, veg, meat, dairy, bread, real dairy ice-creams (in a cone or tub), tinned and dried goods, newspapers and a variety of household essentials.
Warning 1 - Julie serves great, freshly cooked food as fast as she can, so you may have a little wait when they're at their busiest but it'll be worth it, and you'll probably make friends with other regulars in the meantime.
Warning 2 - Lily's closes at 1pm on a Saturday and Sunday, 4pm on weekdays!
Top-tip - If you like sautéed potatoes but can't quite manage the large breakfast, ask for them as an extra with the standard breakfast.
