点评:I am currently in California on a trip over from the UK and having bought my first newport 2 a year ago I couldn’t not check out the Scotty Cameron gallery en route down to San Diego. I was very excited especially as this was right at the end of a 3 week trip and was something my partner was frequently mentioning to people we met (just to put into context how much I was looking forward to it).
The visit was single-handedly the most disappointed and underwhelmed I’ve been in years. The shop is still doing window shopping service only and has to be the only shop in the country that is, ultimately this didn’t bother me but we found it strange as nowhere else on our trip was doing this so thought it was worth mentioning.
The selection of items worth purchasing are very limited and in my opinion, outside of the T Circle ‘for tour use only’ head covers there is nothing there worth getting. I went to buy one of these to be told they are $350 and you need to be with a pro to buy one or Scotty won’t allow it. I was so shocked! I genuinely thought the wording ‘for tour use only’ was almost a jovial statement to be reflective of the quality that the putter is of or deserves to be played at.
Firstly - how can a piece of material be as much as the putter itself?! and secondly, come on Scotty, get over yourself!!!!!!!!! If amateur golfers had these head covers on their local course it’s quite obvious they’re not a tour pro and wouldn’t be misleading anyone to think that they were. In the same way that when kids wear the Ronaldo or messi boots that cost hundreds of pounds no one actually thinks ‘oh there’s messi!’ Probably a bad sport analogy to use for the US but you get the idea.
I know Scotty likes his individualistic nature of some items and exclusivity which is fine but in that case, please make the regular peasant head covers that are $81 better because they all looked more dull than the standard red newport special select headcover that comes stock whereas all the tour ones were a spectrum of different bright colours.
all in all a big waste of time and very very underwhelming and left a sour feeling toward the brand and can’t imagine I’ll have the same good feeling I used to get taking the putter out of the bag. Credit where it’s due the staff were polite but if you are considering stopping by - don’t bother
