RIPPED OFF A DISABLED SENIOR.
This might be the worst stay I've ever had. I was on a trip with my disabled mother and decided to make a reservation at the Luxor Inn and Suites in Elkins.
When I arrived the lady at the desk was pleasant enough. I reiterated that we needed two beds and a downstairs room since my mother can't do stairs. She replied that there were no downstairs rooms but there was a handicap accessible room she could give us. She then proceeded to charge my card.
The first thing that happened is she wrote the wrong room number on the key so I had to go back and have her correct that. When I did get into the room there was only a king bed. I let her know that would not work. The room had a chair, but it didn't fold into a sleeper and there was no effort made at this point to get a roll out bed or a couch for us.
At this point I just wanted to cut my loses and have her refund the card. She refused saying I used a third party site. I had booked directly on the Wyndham app. I then called up Wyndham directly and was on speaker phone. The lady then said we had booked a king room. Obviously not true. She herself switched it and I showed her the resveration on my phone. She then called another manager, person in charge, as she said she couldn't swipe the card for a refund. That manager flat out refused to refund our money.
They would rather have a disabled person risk injury on their stairs. I can only hope their liability insurance is paid up if this is how they treat their customers.
Meanwhile my mother is stuck in the car as this is going on for over an hour. Customers are coming in and one guy looks at me while I'm on the phone with Wyndham and says, “Trouble with your reservation,” with a nod. I guess I'm not the only person whose experienced the special brand of crap service by the Luxor Inn.
At the end of the day I just wend to the Wingate in the same town. They were much more professional and much more accommodating for disabled persons. I still haven't gotten my money back but I did get an email the next day thanking me for choosing the Luxor and a lame excuse of why they just didn't refund my money knowing that they couldn't take care of my disabled mother.
Trust me. Spend the extra 10 or 20 and avoid the Luxor Inn and Suites at all costs.
