Upper Echelon的点评
点评：Don't be put off by the strip mall location and the fact that the mall's parking lot is like driving on the moon. Inside Upper Echelon, you will encounter amazingly friendly staff and good, plentiful food. I wouldn't call the inside charming, but what it is is a friendly space trying to look good in the space it has. The ceiling is painted black, there is subtle lighting, table cloths are black, and there is a bar toward the back. Art, along with large TV screens showing different cities around the world, decorate the wall. Dress is casual, although some diners were more business casual.
We were seated quickly and approached by a friendly waitress who took our drink order, then handed us over to a waiter because she didn't actually have our table. It was really quite funny as she stopped back a few times.
Our food order also came out quickly. I had an excellent pan-fried walleye and hubby dug into an amazing steak that he kept murmuring about because it was so good. We enjoyed the soul food options for sides. My meal came with delicious deep-fried okra.
As we dined, the owner came by to say hello and ask how we were doing. That is an excellent personal touch. Throughout the entire meal, we really felt like we were at a large family gathering.
The only negative was the lack of wine selections, especially local wines. The sign outside said they were a winery, so we expected an interesting wine experience. Instead we had house wine, but the wine was decent and reasonably priced. And it was served with a smile.
We were so happy we dined here and will definitely return if we find ourselves in Xenia again.
