Less professional than a Chuck E Cheese
Vintages Restaurant & Lounge的点评
点评：If you are planning an evening of fine dining, plan to go somewhere else.
This is not a real restaurant, but a room off the pub area (calling Vintages a restaurant is a gross overstatement). The owners and managers are obviously coasting on the fact its on a nice property and there is nothing else nearby, rather than making any effort.
The food was substandard. The risotto very undercooked and the pork bland. But the food was the least bad part of the evening.
When we arrived we were seated and the evening started out well enough. However shortly after a large group of 20+ people arrived, which the restaurant had known about in advance. Instead of planning ahead of time, such as giving the large group its own space, or informing any couples or small groups of the incoming large party (and allowing us to decide whether to go elsewhere or stay), the manager decided to do nothing.
Instead halfway through dinner I could no longer have a simple conversation with my wife, as we were drowned out by the loud crowd. We could barely finish our dinner, and had to order dessert to go. We were looking forward to having a nice dinner, but we were beyond disappointed. I spoke to the manager, and all he did was say that this wasn't a normal evening, that they were busy. As the restaurant only takes reservations (so they know who was coming), that excuse was pathetic. I highly doubt this is the first time that decades-old restaurant happened to be busy with a large group.
The morning after during checkout I demanded that the previous night's dinner bill be removed. The young lady at the front desk was very helpful, while the manager (who was in the next room) did not bother to help out his staff. This "manager" decided to hide out instead. This showed, in addition to everything else, that this entire place is to be avoided at all costs.
Note: The waitress that evening was polite and professional, as was the lady at the front desk. The many faults of the restaurant and hotel landed squarely at the lack-luster managers and the cheap owners.
