What a nice tour of the house and grounds on a rainy day for the History Day tour
Hopper-Goetschius Museum的点评
点评:I visited the Hopper-Goetschius Museum estate for the Northwest Bergen History Day tour and what a nice time I had on a gloomy rainy day. They had lots of activities and the volunteers were really enthusiastic about me visiting.
In the barn, the ladies were demonstrating how to spin wool and make clothes. There were displays of farm equipment and winter transportation that would have been used on the farm. In the little school house, there were displays on turn of the century school rooms and artifacts from Native Americans some found on the property.
The main house had volunteers in all the rooms explaining life on the farm for both families and how things were not modernized until the 1960's. The main house has all sorts of interesting decorations and furniture. It is also so well organized.
To end the day at the museum, in the Smoke House they were making homemade soups and corn bread and biscuits. Perfect to warm me up on a cold day and it was really good. The historical society here is very creative and keep you very busy when you come to visit with interesting activities. Please visit again in the summer and especially at Christmas time.
