点评：We were in town to see our granddaughter perform in a musical/dance production at Montclair State. We needed to eat, but couldn't find anyplace to seat a group of 5 at 6:30. Jefferson Cafe finally popped up and it looked good so so called. We were there 15 minute later.
It's a small restaurant with a carry out area and a small, very nice dining room. The owner and other people there were so friendly that we felt welcome.
The menu was full of wonderful southern dishes, mostly from Mississippi. 3 of us had fried chicken and my husband had smothered pork chops. All were delicious and the gravy on the chops was incredible. For me the star was the collard greens. Perfection! Tender, clean, spicy. My husband loved the sweet potatoes and son-in law raved about the potato salad.
Sweet tea was perfect, too, just the right level of sweet.
They also offer rice and gravy, delicious Mac and cheese, mash and gravy and a bunch of other sides. Fried fish looks good, too. We'll be back soon.
