点评:The home is supposed to be a tribute to General Artemas Ward who was the Patriot Commander during the battle at Bunker Hill. Instead it's just an old house filled with old furniture.
Pros
The outside of the building and grounds are beautifully maintained.
Some items inside did belong to General Ward.
The tour guide is very knowledgable.
Cons
There was nothing about Artemas Ward's life as a General, not a single mention of the battle of Bunker Hill or anything else to do with the General's life.
In fact, they restored the house to 1830 instead of to the time he lived. He led the Bunker Hill battle more than 50 years earlier in 1775.
The hours of operation are very limited and not posted on the web site. We had to visit 4 times before finally getting inside. One time here was a handwritten note on the door saying closed for the weekend. Another time the guide was at lunch and we were told to come back later.
The building is very dark inside. The tour guide had to use a flashlight from room to room during the middle of the day.
In summary, while the home does have items owned by the General, the tour is mostly about his family through the generations. Unlike the tour, the website is a wealth of information about the General and shows a lot of things you won't see on the tour.
