点评:As Georgia residents, we try to visit as many of the state parks as possible, and we are very pleased with the state park system as a whole. Somehow we'd never made it to this park until this weekend, and we are a bit disappointed with ourselves for waiting so long. We got there early on a Sunday morning and went to the visitors center first. There we were given lots of good information about the trails in the park and got a copy of a trail map. This park has a nice variety of trails as well as the distinction of the highest state park in Georgia. Because of the heat and humidity in June, we decided not to try the longest trail in the park which is the 7.2 mile loop called the Edmonds trail and instead did the 2.2 mile loop called the Tennessee Rock Trail. This trail took us an hour and a half, had some challenging elevation change, but had great views from the top of Black Rock Mountain along with some blooming wildflowers which were a pleasant surprise. Then we drove down to the Black Rock Lake Trail which is a lovely and leisurely stroll of .85 mile around the small lake. The park has a lot of nice places to camp, picnic, hike, or just enjoy gorgeous views from the visitors center or an overlook. It's only a short drive from Mountain City so you are close to any amenities you may need. The visitors center has a nice shop with a lot of merchandise, helpful rangers eager to share info, and some nature displays. The only bad news on this trip was that there were no restrooms available anywhere in the park that we ever saw. The visitors center has some restrooms, but these were closed and the only option was a rather gross port-a-potty. Other than that, we were totally pleased with our short trip to the park. We did not see the campsites, so we can 't speak to those, but the park itself is quite lovely and certainly worth a visit.
