点评：Very disappointing experience at Boondocks Restaurant. I have never given a restaurant a one star review, but in this case, it's well deserved.
We had brought our own water in order to save money, as we knew that Boondocks charges for water, and will not provide tap water. After we placed our order, our waitress hurried over an said that we could not bring outside drinks and cups in to the restaurant.
I explained that it was only water, but our waitress insisted that we could not drink it in the restaurant. I offered to pour out our water, and get tap water from the men's room. But, that wouldn't do, as we would still be using cups that we brought from outside.
After our waitress returned to her station, my wife, who was steaming mad by now, went to the bar and cancelled her order. In retrospect, I should have done the same thing, as my hushpuppies were the worst I have ever eaten. They were extremely dry, and even adding butter did not improve their consistency or flavor.
This was all much to the embarrassment of our dinner companion, who is a regular at Boondocks.
I have to say that we have eaten in restaurants all over the United States and Canada for over 50 years, and this is the first time in all that time that we have been refused tap water. I would understand if the local water in the restaurant was not potable, but this was certainly not the case here. I had to drink water out of the tap in the men's room later to wash down those arid hushpuppies, and have still encountered no ill effects.
Needless to say, we'll never be returning to Boondocks. It has left a bad taste, in more ways than one.
