点评：When one has to travel for work solo, one of the challenges one finds is finding somewhere to have a quality bite to eat, but not appear like some sort of a sad, loser. Ive been to this restaurant due to its proximity to various approved hotels on 4 occasions in the past 12 months, and therfire various seasons. It has never disappointed!! Actually, check that, they don't open on a Sunday or Monday which coincided with my last trip and disappointed me terribly. This should be my review would be post my 5th visit!! But I digress.
1. When I evaluate a restaurant, I have to say that, believe it or not, even as a foodie, the ambiance is almost on a par with the food; as there are sometimes more deliberate componant parts to that than actually the food. Ciccos in Stockholm is exactly that. Whilst the food is exceptional, the ambiance (music playlist included) takes one on a journey back to the 1950's USA like Marty McFly in back to the Future.
2. It's old school, and you know what, We LiKE THAT sometimes.
3. The menu, whilst limited in the number of options, excels in the execution of the dishes. Both in presentation and flavour. Tonight, I had the Scampi and I think the chefs hand must still be wet from pulling them out of the sea before being prepared, battered and put on my plate. I live in Dublin and have hafmd Dublin Bay Prawns that freshly caught that weren't as sweet as these.
4. My main of chicken Napoliatana sounds boring, boring it was not. I savoured every bite.
5. The staff! Again, I revert back to my original comment. I'm travelling solo, and they made me feel very welcome, and comfortable. The bar tender from France knew when to engage and was perfectly adept at providing the right balance of conversation and service that is a skill that may ultimately be lost in the coming years and would be sorely missed.
6. Finally, the playlist...At the right volume Frank Sinatra and that genre could not be any better suited to this well thought out throw back to good service, good quality and good people that is a welcome sight to this solo weary traveller. You could do soooo much worse!!
