Great 90 minute hike and stunning temples
Wat Pha Lat Monk's Trail的点评
点评：Great hike up the Monks trail and on to Doi Suthep.
We got a grab from our hotel in Chiang Mai to the trail head, the trail head was easy to find and the drivers seem to know it well. The walk up to Wat Pha Lat was uphill but not overly steep, it took us about 45 minutes.
Wat Pha Lat is very scenic and there are some good photo opportunities.
We found it difficult to find the way to the next path up to Doi Suthep. From the path you entered the temple on, keep the water to your left and walk up, the path disappears and becomes an uphill hill mud track with step like foot holes. When you hit the road you must climb the road barrier, go left along the road and then take your first right back into the trees just before the waterfall.
We had read lots of worrying reviews about the next section of path and whilst they were accurate in their description it wasn’t quite as perilous as I expected. Id say that this path is ok and doable for competent hikers but only if you are fit! And I mean fit. It’s steep and muddy and hot (August) if you’re not fit / don’t like an adventure I’d take the red bus / pickup truck up to Doi Suthep instead. The track is just mud, not surfaced like the first one. There’s no trail signs but there was no opportunity to get lost as there’s no turn off points. If you take plenty of water, some good shoes and a hat you’ll have a great hike. We are quite fit and got a shift on because the weather was turning and it took us about 45 mins to get up.
