点评:What a great way to spend a few hours on an warm Autumnal afternoon. on a trip back to my motherland (Musselburgh) for the weekend, I planned to spend a few hours with my kids and sister in law visiting this little gem in East Lothian, nestled away in the woodland area just outside Pencaitland. My expectations of the tour were not that high and I hoped my children would see how Scotch was made and this would be another part of keeping them in touch with their roots (given we live in Durham now). Upon arrival we were met with a very friendly team in the visitor centre (Most notably Kirsty who turned out to be our chatty guide). We felt welcomed into what felt like the 'Glenkinchie family' immediately and I felt like I was about to be taken round a family home, by the proud owner, rather then go on
a formal tour. The pace, interaction and knowledge of the guide was great and I we even managed to natter about past times in the areas, given our shared experiences growing up in Musselburgh. Apart for the true scots welcome, the trip itself and exposure to the whole process of making whisky and the sensory experience, was great. Kirsty was fab and when we left our whole family uniformly said she was one of the best guides we have ever had and made the trip fun for all. She even stretched the hospitality further by making suggestions of whiskies we would like, bottling my nips into a takeaway box (as the driver) and sharing stories and anecdotes with us all, not to mention building a rapport with my son about their dual love or Italian cars. It was such a great afternoon and I would go back just for a natter and dram with Kirsty, if nothing else. I highly recommend making a pit stop here on your travels in Scotland or if your a local who never ventures far, add it to you bucket list. Thank you all for your welcome and sharing your passion for all things whisky and Scottish :-) James, jack, grace and Gail
