The food was of a good standard, not outstanding. Staff weren’t interested, didn’t mention the specials or do anything more than the minimum required. The cost of the meals for the portion size is disproportionate. Most other pubs in the area are better value and many have nicer food and staff. We’ll give it a miss next time.
2nd time we have walked out of here in 8 weeks!! Stood at the bar where the sign states "wait to be seated" 2 other couples in front of us also waiting. Stood for over 5 minutes with no one in sight. No bar staff, no front of house staff. This time I decided to also ring the telephone number I googled.........you guessed it........no one came to answer. We gave it the benefit of the doubt the first time as it is our local but they have lost our custom but more important our cash which in this climate of pub closures every day is desperately needed. If anyone asks us if we recommend it, the answer is a resounding NO
I don't even know where to start with this review AMAZING. We've been to the Derwent walk so many times foods always lovely and often pop in with the dog after a walk. Last night they hosted our wedding party and it was fabulous. We had the whole pub for our friends and family and the whole process was seamless Steve was great helping me organise. The staff last night could not have been anymore helpful all so lovely & the food was beautiful everyone commented on it. Drinks reasonably priced and overall the perfect place for a function. I just want to do it all again. Thank you so much for having us.
A lovely walk along the footpath to find this little gem, had the halloumi which was huge and very tasty with a massive portion of excellent home made chips, in fact it was too big asked for it to be put in a takeaway, which they was happy to oblige, my husband had the fish and chips which was also huge, he said it was one of the nicest he had had for a long while, the staff are very friendly and chatty, the drinks was about average price for these days, I would have loved one of the desserts as they sounded gorgeous but far too full to fit one in, a very enjoyable experience and a lovely walk back to the caravan at Burnside.
Fantastic pub dining experience, we had our dog with us and the staff could not have been nicer with us. They brought over water for our pup immediately and were always interacting with her. There is a wood fire in the bar area which was very welcoming on a cold December evening and generally enhanced the relaxed vibes of the place. The food range is surprisingly varied and it took a good 5 minutes just to decide what we wanted! I’d definitely recommend the chicken tikka which tasted as good as many Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Overall a great visit for prices that are very reasonable.
Nice country pub with some great views from some tables. Staff were lovely. Food was good and well priced. Pint price was a standard price, but draft soft drinks were around £4.50 for half pint. Madness, and sadly, enough to put us off going again.
Booked a table at Derwent Hall Inn today 08/09/2024 for Sunday lunch. We both ordered the chicken Sunday lunch. The dinner arrived in a very large soup plate and I immediately noted the meat was not fresh cooked chicken breast but pre bought pre cooked chicken breasts. I did ask the waiter if my vegetables could be well cooked as I don't like hard vegetables, he said no as they all come as served al dente, so I knew when he presented the dish of Broccoli, Cauliflower and carrots that I would need strong gnashers to chomp on them, they were very hard. The Yorkshire pudding was very difficult to cut through as was very rubbery. I only picked at my dinner as chicken was tough and dry and Yorkshire pudding was like chewing an elastic band. The mash and gravy was acceptable . Needless to say I was very disappointed and elected not to have a dessert as I would be expecting pre bought sweets and puddings. What a shame for such a place of great history and interest that cant cook a good "Fresh" Sunday lunch. Therefore I wont be visiting again and wont be recommending.
Only gave this place 1 star because we can't give it 0 stars. Dropped in for a drink and we're charged £18.60 for 2 G&Ts. A single Gin is apparently £3.40 and a double is £6.80. Tonic mixer charged separately at £2.50. That's £9.30 a drink. So needless to say I will be having a quiet drink elsewhere in future.
Popped in with my son and dog after a walk nearby. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Really good food…my son’s Steak pie was VERY good. I opted for the scampi which was good…the chips were homemade and VERY VERY good. Would recommend for food and just to pop in for a drink…bonus they are dog friendly
