They don't take reservations or seat parties until everyone is there, so getting a table is a hassle. The service was decent. Salsa was good but chips were old and stale. The house margaritas were probably from a mix - terrible. The food was decent. But we were asked to leave our table so a bigger group could be seated. We were offered a booth to move to, but who wants to move everything? So we just left. This was towards the end of our evening but we were visiting friends from out of town and would have liked to just chat awhile. There are much better choices in the area.
Our favorite restaurant in Green Valley, Manuel’s never has disappointed us. Free chips and salsa as soon as you’re seated. 2 shrimp tacos so good and filling I couldn’t finish them both. Erica was our server last night and she earned 5 stars just herself! She talked us into El Jefe margaritas and they were sooooo good, if a bit pricey.
The food is always solid here…we especially enjoy being able to order a La carte menu items. We took family from Wisconsin here for lunch and they enjoyed every bite. Warm chips and hot or mild salsa served when you arrive is a nice touch.
I am clueless what is going on with Manuel’s. It has always been a decent, solid Mexican restaurant. Something has changed! We went there last night and normally it is always busy, and you have to wait for a table. That wasn’t the case…it was maybe 20% filled and no one was waiting. The salsa and chips guy was prompt. The chip bowl which is always very full was maybe half full. The chips were not the same ones they had always used, and were cold. The salsa was also not the same..the hot was way too hot, the mild was okay. They spilled salsa on the table, and it was never cleaned up. The chips were never refilled. Additionally not a soul stopped by to ask if our food was okay. The food arrived 5 minutes after it was ordered. We had a taco salad which consisted of nasty refied beans, lettuce, shredded chicken, and a sprinkle of cheese. There was some sour cream in a plastic container..no guacamole. It was terrible, and I probably ate half. The other person had a burrito..bland, no sour cream or guacamole..no tomato..just a nasty burrito . So , having gone to Manuel’s for a very long time..we will not be back.
This is a very busy place… and there is a reason for that. Amazing food and excellent service. We would go back there again and again.
Excellent Mexican food! They meet or surpass all the Mexican restaurants that we have ever visited in the Tucson area, and we have lived here since 1972. They are authentic. And the service is wonderful. You barely get your butt onto a chair when they are there with chips and salsa. My favorite enchiladas are superb, as are the refried beans. Likewise the margaritas--just the right strength, not too strong or weak, which weak margarita I ran into in a very pricey upscale spot in Tucson recently. And incidentally, the prices are low to moderate, but worth a whole lot more.
This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in all Southern Arizona. I’m bored and raised in Tucson, AZ. Been to many many Mexican restaurants. This is actually the best one I’ve EVER been to.
Very crowded, inside and outside upon arrival, then we tasted our meals, and we knew why. The service with the crowd was handled really well and the food was both prompt and very tasty. We don't stay in Green Valley, but we will return to eat here. Fun place.
This place runs like clockwork. The staff are well trained, they know what they have to do and they do it quickly and well. They are also cheerful to customers and, it seemed, to each other. The atmosphere is efficient and friendly. The food was tasty and with decent portions. The restaurant is clean, and tidy and well organized with no clutter lying around, which is not something l can say about the two small independent restaurants in the area that we went to during our visit.
