I am a spinner and weaver so our Hungarian guide asked if we wanted to stop in this monastery to watch the nuns weave rugs. We decided to go and WOW was it ever great. The church is a jewel and so well kept up. The workshops where the nuns were knitting on machines over 100 years old and then the weaving of the tapestry rugs was wonderful. They are all so dedicated.
Almost 300 nuns live here, many of them in cottages that are along streets outside of the monastery. Flowers were everywhere - it was so peaceful and inviting. Many famous people have come there for R & R and I can see why. If you are close, be sure and take advantage of this lovely monastary - you'll be glad you did.
