Easy hike to small oasis in the rocks

Nice, pretty easy, short hike. Great views. Nice little oasis under the cliff edge. Didn't take very long, maybe an hour. We had some extra time in Page, so figured we may as well do this hike. No shade, bring some water, very few people around, trail is well marked by a row of small rocks.

Easy Hike to See Plants and Decent Views Along the Way

Enjoyable easy hike near Glen Canyon Dam. At the end are some vines (not ferns) growing under a rock bluff (feed by water seepage through the rock). Well marked and some nice scenery in the distance as you’re walking. Good for families.

Promenade facile et sympathique. A faire si vous avez du temps à Page, sinon ce n'est pas la peine de l'intégrer à votre programme, il y a d'autres choses plus intéressantes à voir. Attention aux serpents, nous en avons croisé deux.

A lovely little surprise

My wife and I were visiting Page for a few days, and frankly, were just looking for a hike that could fill a couple of hours for us one afternoon. Well, this lovely, simple trail really fit the bill. I think we spent 90 minutes total. The walk to the "Hanging Garden" is pretty flat until the very last bit, and other than the complete lack of shade (again, until the end), it is pretty simple. My wife and I live in New Mexico, and we saw many of the same desert plants we see in our neck of the woods. The views are nice and I always enjoy red rock. But it's honestly not a breath-taking walk unless you are quite new to Southwest landscapes. It's pleasant, but nothing earth-shattering. But when you arrive at the gardens, it is just such a great surprise. Yes, the name tells you what to expect, but it's still amazing to see a little oasis under this permanently shaded, slightly moist overhand of rock. It's mostly ferns growing there, but it's quite a large wall (see our photo and others). Lots of birds around, no doubt enjoying the berries on nearby bushes and the shade afforded by all the "extra" growing stuff. If you were so inclined, taking a picnic up to this spot would be nice. We hiked on Sunday afternoon, and met only 4 people on the entire hike. So it's not terribly crowded. It's easy to get to, quite near to Page, and is also near a couple of other trailheads. I recommend it.

Hike to Hanging Gardens

It is a very long hike, much longer than the 1/2 mile that is reported. The hanging gardens are......meh. It was a lot of work for a little reward, IMHO.

Easy short hike near Page

We went on this short hike with little expectation, but it was charming. Quiet and not very busy. Less than 0.5 miles from the Glen Canyon Dam (south bank), you are quickly in a little private idyll.

Pretty, easy, quick

Quick and easy hike to see the Garden. Surprising to see the ferns in this area. A nice add on hike if you have a little extra time and want to stretch your legs. I was super distracted by all the cool little rocks and colorful lichen along the way (if you're into that sort of thing!) We did the whole hike up to the garden without seeing any other people.

Pretty but short trail

The “gardens” aren’t much but it is a nice little walk to them. We continued up and caught the rim view trail and followed it until we had a good view of Lake Powell and that made it a worthwhile outing.

A faire avant les grands parcs sinon passer votre chemin

Honnêtement, à faire si on a du temps à tuer, sinon, quand on est passé par Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, la balade parait tout à fait inintéressante.

Sand, rocks, and a surprise of 10 degree cool off when you arrive. The ferns were a lush green even in a drought in May of 2022. Best to arrive early to avoid the hot sun Easy mile hike round trip. Bring water.
